Two Suspects Arrested In Mooresville Park Homicide Case: MPD
Mooresville police say two suspects were arrested, and a search is on for a 16-year-old they say was involved in the Magla Park homicide.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville police have arrested two suspects and are searching for a third following a late night homicide in a town park last week.
Officers responded to Magla Park on Spencer Street late Wednesday evening, where they found Jacob Dean Koury, 23, of Cornelius. Koury had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report.
The arrests were the result of a coordinated effort among numerous law enforcement agencies, coupled with community tips, according to Mooresville authorities.

“Detectives worked tirelessly during the investigation and were assisted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Marshal Service,” Mooresville Police Department's Assistant Chief Robert Dyson said in a statement Monday. “The assistance of these organizations, along with information received from the community, aided in quickly solving this crime.”
Jessica Cheyenne Nichols, 18, of Mooresville was arrested Friday and was charged with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Nichols was arrested at a home in Hudson, North Carolina, and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

James Samuel Jones, Jr., 34, of Huntersville was arrested Monday, and was also charged with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was arrested at a home just outside of Mooresville and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, police said.
Both Nichols and Jones are being held with no bond, MPD added.
The search continues for an additional person identified as connected to the crime, police said.
"Warrants have been issued for the third suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile, who is still wanted for involvement in the crime," MPD said.

The arrests come after Mooresville police asked for the community's help identifying two persons of interest following the homicide in the town park. Thursday afternoon, MPD released security camera footage that showed two males standing outside a door along with a dog.
