  1. Mooresville High baseball coach Jeff Burchett will not be returning to the mound for the 2024 season. After a successful career with the Blue Devils, he recently announced his retirement. (Subscription: Mooresville Tribune)

Contractors, developers, and designers are being urged to attend the public open house the town is holding on Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at One Mooresville Center, for the new Building Permitting and Inspections Department. The event is open to everyone but is especially important for professionals in the industry to attend to meet the staff, see software demonstrations, and tour the new facility. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Starting Sept. 5, Mooresville’s Building Permitting and Inspections Department will be responsible for administering and enforcing the North Carolina State Building Codes to provide a reasonable level of safety, public health, and general welfare through plan review, issuance of permits and inspections."
