Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools: CMS Announces New Principal At Oakdale Elementary

​A new principal appointment was announced at tonight's Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education meeting.

Dr. Sharrone Powell was named principal at Oakdale Elementary. She has been assistant principal at Thomasboro Academy since 2018. Dr. Powell was dean of students from 2016-2018 and the Title I instructional coach from 2015-2016 at Druid Hills Academy. She also was dean of students at Walter G. Byers School from 2012-2015 and a teacher at Rama Road Elementary from 1999-2012.

Dr. Powell earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Johnson C. Smith University. She also earned a master's degree in education, school administration, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Wingate University.
