Chesterbrook Academy® Preschool Students Release 1,500 Ladybugs

Students celebrated Earth Day by releasing 1,500 beneficial ladybugs into the environment and creating sculptures using recycled materials

On April 22, students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool on Beverly Crest Boulevard in Charlotte explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 1,500 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students also created sculptures made from recycled materials, which were displayed in each classroom for Earth Day.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
