Double Shooting In South Charlotte Sends 2 To Hospital

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have launched an investigation into a double shooting over the weekend in south Charlotte that left two men with gunshot wounds, one of whom is fighting for his life.

According to a report, police initially received a call for service around 10 p.m. on June 8 regarding a shooting that occurred in the 6600 block of Wisteria Drive. Blocks away, in the 200 block of Tyvola Drive, officers located a man who had been shot in the arm.

“The initial investigation indicated that the shooting did not occur on Tyvola Drive, but instead took place somewhere else and then the victim drove himself to Tyvola Drive,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement. The victim was transported to an area hospital and the wound was considered non life-threatening.

About an hour later, shortly before 11 p.m., police received a 911 call reported a man had been shot in the same general vicinity, near South Boulevard and Edgewater Road. Responding officers located a man who had been shot several times inside a vehicle parked in the lot of Grand Oaks Apartments on Wisteria Drive, off Edgewater Road.

The second victim was transported to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center-Main with what authorities say were life-threatening injuries.

According to police investigators, both victims were together in the parking lot on Wisteria Drive when they were shot.

CMPD said the investigation is active and ongoing and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
