According to police, the same man is behind a vehicle breakin and a carjacking and attempted sexual assault near Park Road Shopping Center.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the public’s help in locating a male suspect they say is behind a carjacking, robbery and attempted sexual assault near Park Road Shopping Center late last week.
According to police, one male suspect is behind a string of crimes in the busy Charlotte shopping district. The first crime was reported to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department around 1:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, when a woman said an unknown suspect entered her vehicle in the 1800 block of Montford Drive and stole personal property.
Less than an hour later, at 2 a.m., police received a call about a carjacking and sexual assault attempt in the same area. A 22-year-old woman told police she was approached by an unknown man while she was using an ATM in the 1600 block of East Woodlawn Road. The suspect brandished a weapon and forced his way into the victim’s vehicle, drove to another location and attempted to sexually assault her, CMPD said. The victim’s car — a 2009 Hyundai Sonata — was later located in the 1300 block of Skyview Road.
