New Pet Store Brings Affordable Pet Products to Independence Mall

Pet Supplies Plus will open a location on April 21 at 3500 Oleander Dr. Suite R050 in Independence Mall and will offer local pet parents a hassle-free way to find better products for their pets, while saving them money and celebrating the fun of pet ownership. In addition, the store will offer amenities such as self-pet wash stations, a knowledgeable pet care team and carry-out service in which team members carry heavy items to neighbors’ cars.

The store is owned by entrepreneur Chris Bennett and will be operated by Wilmington local Aaron Breasseale. Breasseale has worked various roles for Pet Supplies Plus corporate over the last ten years and most recently served as manager of the Carolina Beach Rd location in Wilmington. He travelled around the country contributing to the construction efforts of new locations but was never around to see a store come to life— until now. As a community partner, Breasseale and his fellow operations manager Samantha Stutts will partner with Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue and All 4 Cats. Additionally, they will host year-round adoption events, fundraisers and pet food and product collection drives.

“Working with Pet Supplies Plus brought me to the Wilmington area a few years ago, but making this transition from being ‘in the community’ to being ‘apart of the community’ has been incredible,” Breasseale said. “This location at Independence Mall is really bridging the gap between the two current Pet Supplies Plus locations in Wilmington. I am excited to meet the neighbors in this area and introduce them to the community-centric model of Pet Supplies Plus.”

To welcome the community, Breasseale and his team will host a weekend-long grand opening event. Beginning on Saturday, June 3rd and continuing through Sunday, June 4th, the new Pet Supplies Plus will offer special prize giveaways, sale prices and more. The primary giveaways are as follows:

• Saturday, June 3 – Sunday, June 4 – Neighbors have a shot at winning a complimentary, one-year supply of dog or cat food.
• Saturday, June 3 – Sunday, June 4 – Pet Supplies Plus will offer complimentary nail trims and dog washes for pets.
• Saturday, June 3 – Mystery scratch cards, between the amounts of $5-$10, will be given to neighbors throughout the day.
• Sunday, June 4 – First 100 people will receive one free small bag of dog or cat food

Pet Supplies Plus will offer Wilmington pet parents a wide selection of natural pet foods, goods and pet services at low prices and focus on a unique, rich in-store experience for “neighbors” (the term Pet Supplies Plus uses for customer).
