Avon Girls Take U-12 Little League Majors Title
Avon will play Tallmadge July 12 in the state semifinals.

The team, coached by Todd Austinson is primarily the same team of girls who were state runners-up two years ago in the 9-10 division. He complimented the team on its victory.
"Hard work pays off,” he said. “It's an honor to be part of this team."

Players were nervous, but pleased.
“"Saturdays game I was so happy I was shaking inside,” shortstop Maddie Cromling said. “We are a team and we never give up. I think there is going to be some good competition at States, but we are ready."

Cromling managed a triple and a double on the night and earned 3 RBIs.
Avon’s pitcher, Hannah Boesger pitched a five-hitter, striking out eight. She will pitch again on Thursday. Dani Austinson also pitches for the team.
“I was really nervous knowing how good a team Elyria is,” Boesger said. “But our team played well under pressure. We started off slow, but once our nerves settled down we played our game.”
Avon will head to Tallmadge for the state tournament on Thursday, July 12 at 3 p.m. against the winner of District 2.
