Avon Makes St. Patrick's Day an All-Day Affair
Early openings and eager crowds fill local bars
A holiday that has become a reason to party and glorious spring-like weather combined to make St. Patrick's Day festive at two Avon bars.
was packed early Thursday afternoon as revelers were arriving from as far as Chesterland and Eastlake after enjoying the annual parade in downtown Cleveland.
Manager Jeff Wright said he expected at least 500 people. opened at 8 a.m. with its Kegs and Eggs breakfast. The covered and opened patio area was jammed with partiers wearing anything green and drinking green beer. Entertainment later in the day included the Bald Paul Blues Irish Band, Burke School of Irish Dance and Heritage Bagpipes.

was able to put its new covered patio to good use as the skies were sunny and the temperatures climbed into the low 60s.
Owner Cory Rowland said there was a strong breakfast rush of people going to the Cleveland parade when the bar opened at 8 a.m. By mid-afternoon, the parade-goers were starting to trickle back.
