Avon Police Help Chase Driver Armed with Crossbow on I-90
Chase went from Avon to Madison

Avon police assisted in a 100-mile high-speed chase on March 20 of a man who was believed to be armed with a crossbow.
The Ohio Highway Patrol asked for help shortly before 9 a.m. in trying to pull over a white pickup truck on I-90. Word was it was being driven by a man who had been reported missing and possibly had mental or emotional problems on top of having the crossbow.
 Police tried to pull him over near the Route 83 exit, but the driver wouldn't stop. Rocky River police tried to use stop sticks, but the truck didn't hit them.

Speeds reached 90 to 95 mph during the chase, which also involved police cars from Cleveland and Bratenahl  before it ended in Madison. The driver, Randy Black, 40, of Quincy, Ill., was arrested. No one was hurt.

OVI Arrests
A man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated around 2:23 a.m. on March 20.
Avon police pulled Derek Zilka, 27, over in the 3200 block of Stoney Ridge Road after spotting him weaving on the road.
A woman was arrested for OVI around 2:56 a.m. on I-90 near mile marker 154, just east of the Route 83 exit. Police reported seeing a car driven by Alyssa Wllson, 22, weaving.
Traffic Snarl
Drivers near Chester and Moore Roads were stuck for a while  during the morning on March 21 as a semi truck hit a guardrail at the intersection of Chester Road and Colorado Avenue and blocked traffic in both directions around 7:18 a.m. Police closed Chester between Moore Road and Colorado Avenue while the crash was cleared. Roads were re-opened shortly before 9 a.m. No one was hurt in the crash.
The Family That Prays Together...
Police got a call from a home in the 38700 block of Detroit Road around 3:48 p.m. March 19 and only heard yelling and swearing in the background. When police called back, the person who answered said no one called and hung up.
Police went to the house and found out that the mother-in-law had dialed 911 and hung up during a shouting match. After police checked the situation, the mother-in-law and the man at the house were leaving to go to church.
