Team falls to 0-2 after 13-5 loss to Windy City

Avon's own have been the crush-ees as the 2011 season has opened.

The Crushers dropped to 0-2 after Friday night's 13-5 loss to the Windy City Thunderbolts in Crestwood, Ill.

Windy City (2-0) scored four runs in the second inning and six runs in the seventh to pull away.

The Crushers did not help themselves, committing seven errors in the game. Travis Risser (0-1) took the loss, giving up six runs and 10 hits in three innings.

Andrew Davis led the Crushers by going 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI.

The Crushers and Thunderbolts finish their series with an 8:05 p.m. game Saturday night.  After that, the Crushers have two days off before a three-game series at the Rockford RiverHawks May 24-25.

The Crushers have their home opener on Friday, May 27, with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Joliet Slammers at . Opening Night will be celebrated with a fireworks show after the game.
