EMH Opens New Sleep Lab in Avon

EMH Healthcare has opened a brand new, state-of-the-art sleep lab in Avon within within the

The new lab is the second for EMH Healthcare, which also maintains a lab in the EMH Elyria Medical Center.

“We are very pleased to offer patients in Avon and surrounding communities the latest technology in evaluating and diagnosing sleep disorders,” Bill Bursley, EMH Director of Respiratory Care, Diagnostics and Sleep Lab, said.  “The combination of our highly qualified staff and this beautiful new facility allows us to provide top-notch care and help our patients finally get the restful sleep they need.”

The new Avon sleep lab features two fully-furnished suites with queen-sized beds and flat screen televisions. Each suite includes a private bathroom, complete with extra-large showers that are handicap accessible.

The labs were designed with a relaxing décor and they include specialized recliners to accommodate those who do not sleep in beds, as well as bariatric patients. Roll-away beds are also available for a member of the patient’s family to stay overnight.

The lab is one of the latest moves EMH is making in battling sleep disorders, which affect approximately 40 million people.

Using the latest technology, licensed, registered EMH sleep technologists interpret the cause of patients’ sleep disorders, and then explain the treatment options available to them. EMH’s  sleep labs are Accreditation Commission for Health Care accredited sleep labs.
