It's spring election day this week, with renewal levies for both the and the on the May 3 ballot. Avon Patch will be following both votes and will have results as soon as they're available that night.

Avon City Council has a work session at 7:30 p.m. May 2 at . Items on the agenda include creating a full-time information technology technician position, building sidewalks and awarding a bid for the new Nagel Road sanitary sewer lift station.

Avon students are back to school this week after spring break. Weather permitting (we'll get to that in a minute), the sports teams are busy. The baseball and softball teams take on Firelands, Bay Village and North Ridgeville. 

According to the Farmer's Almanac, this is the week we go below a 50 percent chance of a frost. And, with the start of May, gardening season really gets underway. Are you growing any produce this year, or adding some landscaping? You may have to wait until next weekend to get into the dirt, as there's a chance of rain much of the week.
