Five Things You Should Know This Week

Special council meeting about flooding, paczki and fish fries are on this week's agenda.

  1. Sunday's your last chance to see production of "Little Shop of Horrors." There's a 2 p.m. matinee.
  2. A special meeting of the legal and services committees of Avon  will be held at 6:15 p.m. Monday in  to discuss what the city should do after Monday's flooding that had several homes end up with raw sewage in their basement.
  3. Mardi Gras is Tuesday. You know what that means. Paczki! Expect the usual long lines at paczki paradises like Kiedrowski's in Amherst. Oh, but it's worth it.
  4. Ash Wednesday follows Mardi Gras. will have Mass at 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. will have Mass at 8 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  5. And if it's Lent, it's time for the Friday fish fry. Holy Trinity will hold its fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Holy Trinity gymnasium each Friday during Lent. Options include lake perch, baked fish, shrimp and pierogi with prices ranging from $8 to $13. You can eat there or do take-out. St. Mary is also planning to do a fish fry.
