A FREE community shred event is scheduled for Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. - noon in the southwest section of the Library parking lot. Each household may bring up to five standard copy paper boxes OR five grocery size bags of personal, confidential documents for secure cross-cut shredding by Shredding Network.

Circus Caricatures with Mike Leuszler

Jr. Tree House Club – Be a Clown

Rain Barrel Demonstration
Rain barrels are an old-fashioned yet effective and low-cost way to conserve water and save money. The city of Avon Lake offers rain barrels and installation kits for only $20. will demonstrate how to install a rain barrel on Tuesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. If you are interested in a rain barrel kit, preorders with payment must be made by Friday, June 8 for pick-up at the program and can be done at the Circulation desk.
Make It and Take It Craft
Get in on the old, yet new fashion craze and create your own friendship bracelets. A new bracelet design will be featured every two weeks during Summer Reading, beginning Thursday, June 14. Drop by the YA Stop and check it out.
Clown Academy
Sign-up for “clown academy” and find the clown inside you! On Friday, June 15 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 am, learn tricks, stunts, do a craft and enjoy a snack, all with a clown/circus theme. For ages 6 – 9. Registration is required, beginning Monday, June 11 in the Children’s department or by calling 440-933-8128 x253.
Red Cross Babysitting Course
Taught by certified Red Cross instructors, this course includes basic instruction in child safety and care, first aid and infant CPR. Classes are Tuesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 21 from 9:30 a.m. – 1 pm. Students ages 11 – 15 are welcome and must be able to attend both sessions. $45 fee includes workbook and first aid kit. Register online at the Red Cross, using the coupon code obtained at the YA desk or by calling 440-933-8128 x247.
My Cousin, the Alien Book Discussion
Join the fun as we read and discuss My Cousin, the Alien by Pamela Service on Thursday, June 28 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm. For ages 9 – 11. Register and pick up a copy of the book in the Children’s department beginning Monday, June 11. Bring a brown bag lunch – drinks will be provided.
