Police Blotter: Kids Hide a Little Too Well, Dog Rescued

Boys found safe after disappearing act.

Two little boys apparently decided to play hide-and-go-seek with their mom. One small problem: They didn't tell her.

The woman, who lives on Center Road, called when it appeared her boys, ages 7 and 4, slipped out the back door shortly after 9 a.m. on April 27. After checking the neighborhood, the boys were found back at home hiding in boxes in a bedroom.

No word from the mom as to how many gray hairs this added.

Good Deed

Avon police and departments helped rescue a dog trapped on the shore of French Creek in the 2300 block of Glenwood Lane shortly after 7 p.m. on April 27.

The dog, Bailey, who had been missing for about two hours, was happily reunited with his family and is OK.

Dumb Moves

Two teenaged boys who shoplifted merchandise from  around 8 p.m. on April 25 took off across Center Road and were nearly hit. For their efforts, they got a ride home to their parents chauffered by Avon police. No charges were filed.

Vandalism

A deck-type bridge on the west side of the walking trails at was seriously damaged by vandals sometime before 9 a.m. on April 24.

Avon police found that boards on the side benches of the bridge had been torn off, and that the bridge appeared to be bowed into the water. They are investigating.

Road Hazard

Avon police became moving men when a loveseat was discovered in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 near exit 151 for Route 611 around 8:37 p.m. on April 27. Officers got it out of the road and into the grass at the side. The driver of the car that lost the couch was found east of the Crocker Road exit in Westlake and cited for load violation.
