Police Blotter: Pot Found, Theft Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Avon police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Someone found a small amount of marijuana in the lobby at the French Creek YMCA and called police on May 26.

Police took the pot and disposed of it.

Three Elyria men were arrested on drug and alcohol charges in the early hours of May 25.

Avon police pulled over the car the men were in around 2:44 a.m. near the intersection of Stoney Ridge Road and Orchard Street. The six people in the car were brought to the police station for breathalyzer tests. The police dog alerted officers to drugs, and a search turned up marijuana, eye drops, rolling paper, cigarillos and a digital scale, along with an opened 12-pack of Coors Light and two opened cans.

Zachary Stimmell, 19, of Bellfield Avenue in Elyria, was charged with drug abuse, use of headlight beams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brendan Doeher, 19, of Telegraph Road in Elyria, was charged with underage possession. Tory Gibbons, 20, of Whitman Blvd. in Elyria, was charged with underage possession.

Arrest at Costco

A Lakewood man was arrested and charged with theft and resisting an officer at Costco shortly before 3:30 p.m. on May 26. Benjamin Taddesse, 26, of Cannon Avenue in Lakewood, was arrested after Costco security called police and accused him of shoplifting. A boxcutter was among the evidence taken.
