Six Months of Avon Patch

Happy Patchiversary!

Six months ago today, as Avonites were decking their halls and doing their holiday prep, .

It was a new adventure for me, coming from a career in print. I'd never edited video, hired freelancers, or done some of the other things I've done since joining Patch last year.

The adventure has been exciting, challenging and, at times, just plain fun. I've loved getting to know the people of Avon. Thank you so much for making Avon Patch a part of your community.

We've covered news like the , the in Avon, and the . We've also been able to cover , and some of the of . 

And the adventure is continuing. We're moving into South Carolina, New Hampshire, Iowa, and have even launched our first military Patch. Our local emphasis can have a , like when the Ridgewood, N.J., Patch got a photo of New Jersey governor Chris Christie, a possible Republican presidential contender whose message is budget austerity and fiscal responsibility, using a taxpayer-funded state police helicopter .

Avon Patch has added new features, like Moms Talk and blogging, since we launched. Our goal is to make Avon Patch a community site. It's a place where the community can come together to share what's going on in town and talk about it.
