Tumbles & Cheers Grand Opening is Saturday

New facility is 14,500 sq. ft.

The newest athletic training center for Northeast Ohio will officially open its doors on Saturday, July 7, when the 14,500-sq.-ft. facility opens its doors.

A noon ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially mark the opening of the new center at 1482 Lear Industrial Parkway, near the former location. The center will be the home to more than 400 all-star cheerleaders and recreational tumblers ages 3 to 18.

The new facility marks a milestone in the company’s growth.

“In 2002, we opened Tumbles & Cheers as a club where athletes could learn cheerleading, tumbling and stunting techniques to better prepare for high school and collegiate cheerleading,” owner Heather Zidek said.

Today, the organization has grown to serve as an athletic training center for six competitive cheerleading teams, including one of which has achieved “Worlds” ranking status for four consecutive years; a Special Needs cheerleading team; and four local high schools, including Amherst, Elyria, Elyria Catholic, and Keystone.

Zidek said she is excited to introduce the new facility to the local community, athletes and non-athletes, school administrators, superintendents, athletic directors and anyone looking to learn about a program that promotes physical fitness, discipline, self confidence, leadership and teamwork.

The grand opening will feature a special appearance by World tumbling expert Eugene Tunaya from Fighting Gravity (featured on America’s Got Talent); former Cleveland Gladiators cheerleaders and Cleveland Cavaliers Scream Team members; Nicole Khayat, founder and president of Fancy Face Cosmetic and the current Mrs. Illinois; Leah Rhodes, current Worlds Cheerleading Champion and University of Louisville Cheerleader and others.

In 2010, Tumbles & Cheers was named "U.S. Small Gym of the Year" by Cheer Biz and American Cheerleader magazines.
