Hilltop Principal Sherry Miller called Wilson "one of Beachwood's finest educators" and gave a short speech venerating her:
"She is intelligent, kind, patient and perservering. She truly enjoys her children and understands that practice is the true art of teaching. She goes above and beyond to make sure her students succeed both in the classroom and in other areas relating to their intellectual and social growth.
Like many excellent teachers, she's a quiet, unassuming person who sees what's best for others and subtley does whatever necessary to make good things happen for children.
She's a team player and a child advocate. She has a great sense of humor that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Her honesty and integrity are unquestioned by all who know her."
Wilson seemed close to tears when she accepted the award.
"When you work with the teachers I work with, who are really incredible..." said Wilson, "I don't feel I stand out, so I'm really humbled and honored to get it."
