Man Charged With Drunken Driving After Rear-Ending Police Cruiser

The Broadview Heights man was traveling north on Miller Road on Monday, when he failed to stop at the State Route 82 intersection, where a police car was stopped at a red light.

A 52-year-old Broadview Heights man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after he rear-ended a police car on Miller Road on Monday.

According to the crash report, the man was traveling north on Miller Road at around 5 p.m. when he failed to stop at the State Route 82 intersection, where a police car was stopped at a red light

Traveling at around 1 mph, the man bumped into the rear of the police cruiser, according to the police report.

Neither than man nor the officer was injured.

There was minimal damage reported to the vehicles.

“While at the police station, the (man) exhibited signs of alcohol use,” according to the crash report. “An OVI investigation was initiated.”

The man was charged with drunken driving, failing to maintain an assured clear distance and failing the test for blood alcohol content.

However, the police investigation report has not been completed, so the blood-alcohol level has not yet been released.
