Speeding With Drugs Leads to Felony Charges: Brecksville Police Blotter

Speeding with drugs leads to some felony charges
Police spotted a speeding SUV on Interstate 77 just after 1 a.m. on June 25 and pulled the driver over. That ended up being the least of the driver’s worries.

Police soon discovered that Ted E. Dahlke, 27, of Akron, was driving with a suspended license. Dahlke told police that there was nothing illegal in the vehicle and that they could search it. But police found a device for inhaling drugs with some cocaine residue inside and a bottle with prescription drugs. The driver said the drugs were his and that he no longer had a prescription for them. He was charged with three fifth-degree felonies: one for cocaine possession, one for illegal prescription pill possession and one for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged for the speeding and for driving under suspension.

A bad place for a nap
When passing by the Brecksville Town Center on Chippewa Road at 3:49 a.m. on June 23, an officer noticed a parked car with the driver’s door open. There was a man lying on the ground next to the door. The officer checked the man for injuries and found a pulse. It took a bit to wake the 31-year-old Lakewood man up. The officer took the man back to the station and later found two empty whiskey bottles in the trunk. The man said he hadn’t been driving. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
