Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:
- Two female ballet students are suing the University of Cincinnati (UC) over sexual misconduct allegations against a male dancer. The women, who are known in the lawsuit as Karen Soe and Jane Roe, filed the lawsuit on Jun. 30 in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati, accusing UC and the College-Conservatory of Music of violating Title IX rules by acting with βdeliberate indifference,β to their complaints. The women say the school did not protect them from alleged sexual misconduct by a male ballet dancer, known as John Doe, during rehearsals and performances. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
- A new coat of paint is putting the "purple" back into the Purple People Bridge. The bridge will celebrate its 150th birthday by donning a new, fresh coat of purple paint; however, only the entryway arch on the Newport side of the bridge will get the fresh coat initially. In a press release, Will Weber, president of the Purple People Bridge Company, described that the tint is intended to tease what the bridge could look like if fundraising efforts to pay for a full re-paint are successful. - BLINK will be putting on its first-ever illuminating drone show each night of the festival. The festival is partnering with Sky Elements Drone Shows to put on the show twice a night at Smale Riverfront Park, with the first show taking place at 8:00 p.m. BLINK will take place from Oct. 13-16 and each show will be 10 minutes long and feature 300 drones.
