How Much Do You Know About Columbus?
Every town has its traditions. Check out these fun facts about what makes Columbus so special.

Columbus is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Columbus has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Columbus is the birthplace of fast food! The very first Wendy's restaurant was opened in Columbus in 1969 by Dave Thomas, and it's still there today. You can visit the original restaurant and even see the fryer Thomas used to cook the first Wendy's fries.
- Did you know that Columbus is home to one of the largest universities in the United States? Ohio State University has over 65,000 students enrolled, making it one of the biggest universities in the world. The campus is also home to a wide range of museums and galleries, including the Wexner Center for the Arts.
- If you're a fan of architecture, you'll love Columbus. The city is home to several historic buildings designed by famous architects, including the Ohio Statehouse, which was designed by Henry Walter and completed in 1861. You can take a guided tour of the Statehouse and learn about its history and architecture.
- Did you know that Columbus is home to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium? This world-renowned zoo is home to over 10,000 animals from around the world, and it's a great place to spend a day with the family. The zoo also has an attached water park, Zoombezi Bay, which is perfect for hot summer days.
- If you're a fan of all things scary, you'll love Columbus' haunted history. The city has a number of haunted locations, including the Green Lawn Cemetery, which is one of the largest cemeteries in the state with over 154,000 headstones. You can also take a haunted walking tour of downtown Columbus to learn about the city's most haunted spots.
