The future of Columbus is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Rayanna Howell, who are making a positive impact in and around Columbus.

A Columbus Africentric Early College graduate, Rayanna completed high school with an outstanding 3.99 GPA while excelling as a key member of the State Champion Lady Nubians basketball team. While on the court, she stood out as a leader among her teammates, earning accolades including multiple all-city honors.

Now a freshman at Bennett College, Rayanna continues to excel as a Business Administration major and Strada Scholar. She has received several prestigious awards, including the 2024 I Know I Can Founders’ Scholarship and the John J. Bishop Award, which celebrate her academic excellence, leadership and community impact. Supported by these scholarships, Rayanna continues to inspire others with her determination and resilience, overcoming two ACL injuries while excelling in both academics and championship-level athletics. Her journey proves that hard work and perseverance can pave the way for a bright future.
