Fake Update Scam Costs Drug Mart More Than $800
The following was obtained from a Cuyahoga Falls police report dated Jan. 7.

A man claiming to be a Western Union technician scammedΒ Discount Drug MartΒ out of more than $800 on Jan 7βand he never even had to stop by the store.Β
Shortly after 5:15 p.m., an unknown man called the store and spoke with one of the clerks. He claimed to be a Western Union technician and said he needed the clerk to do some updates on the machine.
Within five minutes, the employee had transferred $888.88 to a pre-paid Visa card without realizing, according to the police report.
