City of Fairlawn Officially Brands Market Street as The 18 Corridor. The City of Fairlawn has branded their section of State Route 18, a 2.1 mile stretch along Market Street, officially as The 18 Corridor. With this branding effort, their goal is to attract more visitors and business to the city, and encourage them to take advantage of the many shops, businesses, restaurants and lodging. The campaign is also aiming to encourage tourists to stay in Fairlawn lodging when taking in the many sites in the Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron areas. The city will also use the effort to attract new businesses to locate or relocate to Fairlawn, while also encouraging redevelopment and updating of existing properties. There will be several programs put into motion in the next months and years to help achieve this goal. Planned marketing executions will include the development of traditional and online digital billboards, a social media campaign, several community related events, video development and public relations. Local businesses will also have multiple opportunities to partner with the city throughout the campaign. The City of Fairlawn launched a new website in conjunction with the branding effort, designed to promote local businesses and the programs they will be implementing. The new website can be accessed at www.The18Corridor.com. Businesses in the area will also be able to promote their business on the new website and The 18 Corridor social media platforms. The branding and subsequent marketing campaign was developed and is being managed by The Eisen Agency, a nationally award winning branding, marketing and media agency that works with destination points, municipalities and businesses.

Bath Township officials got some disappointing news from two would-be funding sources. Trustees learned Bath will not receive a grant from the Summit County Emergency Management Agency that would have paid to replace an emergency siren at the fire station. And the Ohio Historical Society did not choose the township for an Ohio History Fund Grant. The agency received 64 grant requests and selected 11 projects to fund. Bath had sought money to rebuild the vault in Bath Center Cemetery. The township will not look for other ways to pay for the project. In other business at this week's trustees' meeting: • The Memorial Day Committee is looking for new members. Anyone willing to volunteer is asked to call 330-666-4007. The Memorial Day observance is scheduled for Monday, May 27 at noon at the Bath Veterans' Memorial. • Three zoning permits were issued for new residences in Feburary. There were also two permits granted for pools, two for signs, three for businesses and one for an accessory structure. • The Parks and Service departments received 16 applications for part-time seasonal workers.
