5 Reasons Not to Shoplift from Stores

Police nab that many at Summit Mall every day or two

On July 17, 18 and 20 at Summit Mall in Fairlawn:

1. A 21-year-old man was charged with theft after allegedly concealing a pair of My Little Pony socks in his pants at Spencer Gifts. They were valued at $12.99.

2. A 17-year-old girl was stopped by store security in Macy's after putting $80 worth of clothing into a Macy's bag and trying to leave the store.

3. A Cleveland woman took the price tag off a bracelet at Spencer's and hid the $10 item under her shirt. When confronted, she gave her sister's name and Social Security number; she later said she didn't want to go to jail on her outstanding traffic warrants. She was charged with theft and misrepresenting her identity.

4. A man concealed four Polo shirts worth $158 while in the dressing room at Dillard's. In addition to being charged, he was banned from the mall for a year and from Dillard's forever.

5. A shopper from Wadsworth took bracelets and necklaces from a display at Macy's, removed a charm from one, then hid that and two other items worth $85 in her bra. The woman, 18, was charged and banned from the store for three years.
