Herberich Primary PTA Wins National PTA Award

PTA is the recipient of the National PTA Phoebe Apperson Hearst-National PTA Family-School Partnership Award of Merit. This award recognizes a PTA that effectively implemented National PTA’s National Standards for Family-School Partnerships.

Herberich Primary PTA is home to many immigrant and temporary residents who represent 18 different countries. Many of these families are members of the PTA and help grow membership and participation every year. Three major events each year focus on families of students who participate in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. In addition, the PTA encourages family engagement through a conversation group, library volunteer group, after school programming and PTA leadership opportunities. All of these events provide opportunities for families to interact, practice English language skills in a non-threatening environment and support their child’s educational experience.

“When families are engaged, students succeed. That’s why we’re proud to recognize the Herberich Primary School PTA with this award of merit. They truly understand that bringing family engagement into the school can positively impact student success,” said Betsy Landers, National PTA President.
