What Does an Easter Bonnet Look Like? Like This
Local hat maker says women will be wearing these styles for the holiday
So does anyone still wear an Easter bonnet?
Okay, no one calls it that, but some women do still want a nice new hat for Easter, according to Paula Singleton, owner of What a Great Hat! in Fairlawn.

Hat-wearers lament that there aren't more fans out there.
"Some of my customers complain that few women wear a hat to church," Singleton said.

This year, she has produced the two pictured hats for Easter. The cream one is a "hybrid:" a vintage hat Singleton purchased and remodeled to bring it up to date, that would now "look stunning for Easter, the Kentucky Derby or a wedding," she said.
The other has a hand-blocked silk crown and free-flowing brim made from sinamay, which is a product of the banana tree.
"It is a custom-made hat being worn to church on Easter. It would also be perfect for the Kentucky Derby, spring teas or for any number of events," Singleton said.
In fact, her busiest holiday isn't Easter, but the Kentucky Derby in May.
"Some will actually be worn for the Derby and others are worn to Kentucky Derby parties closer to home," she said.
By the way, Singleton, who creates all her hats by hand, won the judges' choice award for a hat entered into the Kentucky Derby Museum hat contest in 2010.
She also entered the contest in 2011 and 2012; all three hats have been on display in the museum the year that they were entered.
What a Great Hat! is at 2855 West Market St. and is open by appointment; 330-592-2295.
