Bath Administrator Bill Snow Steps Down

Trustees honor long-time employee with resolution

Bill Snow's long service to Bath Township ended Sunday, when he officially retired as township administrator.

At Monday's meeting, township trustees passed a resolution honoring Snow for his years of service, which started when he was hired as a volunteer firefighter in 1982.

"Mr. Snow is known as a consummate professional, always putting the interests of Bath Township first," the resolution says. "He has witnessed both tragedy and celebration within the community and has always given selflessly to offer his heartfelt support in every instance."

Snow left the fire department in 2003 as a captain, after becoming Bath's clerk-treasurer in 1996. He moved into the administrator role in 2000.

Snow announced last year that he was forced to retire to protect his pension, but asked trustees to hire him back at a reduced salary.

Trustees eventually hired him back for an interim period, and brought on Vito Sinopoli to take over starting April 1.

Trustees noted that Snow guided the construction of the Stony Hill Fire Station, helped establish Bath Hill Park and the Bath Nature Preserve.

"Mr. Snow’s most notable and appreciated contribution is the sound fiscal status of the township," the resolution says.

Snow was a founding member of the Summit County Hazardous Materials Response Team and a member of the Local Emergency Planning Commission.

"He is respected by his colleagues at Bath Township and by current and former members of the Board of Trustees," trustees said in the resolution. "His presence at Bath Township will be missed."
