Sting involved ecstasy buy.

  • Two Bath township police officers assisted the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Summit County Drug Task Force in the arrest at 1:23 p.m. Friday of a man who police claim was importing ecstasy into the country.

According to Bath Township Police Chief Michael McNeely, the man arrived at the Holiday Inn expecting to receive payment for a shipment of drugs, but instead was arrested in the parking lot.  “They had been in contact for several months and I believe had provided drugs to the undercover officers before.” McNeely said the man was not a U.S. citizen.

  • A woman told police that her tax return document was taken from an upstairs bathroom at Akron General Wellness Center at about 8:24 p.m. April 11. The woman wasn’t sure whether someone took the document or it was thrown away, but was concerned about identity theft.
  • A man who was stopped because his temporary tag was not visible was cited for driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Gregory L. Randles was stopped heading eastbound on Smith Road near Revere Road. Police found a metal pipe used for smoking marijuana in the car and a LEADS search revealed that his driver’s license was suspended.
  • A Bath Township Police officer shot and killed a raccoon  at 11:49 a.m.  April 17 at Bath Baseball Park. The animal was found lying on a path in the park and was obviously ill, according to a police report.
