City of Fairlawn Officially Brands Market Street as The 18 Corridor. The City of Fairlawn has branded their section of State Route 18, a 2.1 mile stretch along Market Street, officially as The 18 Corridor. With this branding effort, their goal is to attract more visitors and business to the city, and encourage them to take advantage of the many shops, businesses, restaurants and lodging. The campaign is also aiming to encourage tourists to stay in Fairlawn lodging when taking in the many sites in the Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron areas. The city will also use the effort to attract new businesses to locate or relocate to Fairlawn, while also encouraging redevelopment and updating of existing properties. There will be several programs put into motion in the next months and years to help achieve this goal. Planned marketing executions will include the development of traditional and online digital billboards, a social media campaign, several community related events, video development and public relations. Local businesses will also have multiple opportunities to partner with the city throughout the campaign. The City of Fairlawn launched a new website in conjunction with the branding effort, designed to promote local businesses and the programs they will be implementing. The new website can be accessed at www.The18Corridor.com. Businesses in the area will also be able to promote their business on the new website and The 18 Corridor social media platforms. The branding and subsequent marketing campaign was developed and is being managed by The Eisen Agency, a nationally award winning branding, marketing and media agency that works with destination points, municipalities and businesses.

On Monday, the Cleveland-Massillon Road bridge over Interstate 77 in Bath will close for 60 days. The Ohio Department of Transportation will reconstruct the bridge as part of the bridge repair program happening across the township. This bridge is located just south of the Embassy Parkway and just north of Tee Drive on North Cleveland-Massillon Road and is a major link to the Montrose area.  Township officials say they have put a plan in place to address fire and police response times in the Montrose area, while using the joint Fire Station No. 2 as well.   While the bridge is out of service, Ghent Road will be the primary detour. The Ghent Road bridge will be open Monday.  The Everett Road bridge over I-77 is planned to reopen by Aug. 27.
