Earth Day Recycling Drive

The annual Earth Day recycling drive organized by Metro Parks, Serving Summit County is Monday, April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Coventry Oaks Pavilion in Firestone Metro Park, 40 Axline Ave., Akron.

During the drive-through and drop-off event, Akron-based Neoshred and Hudson’s E-waste will collect the following items: cardboard, phone books, books, magazines, newspapers, office paper, PC towers and laptops, printers, scanners, fax machines, disk drives, computer hubs and routers, keyboards, mice, cell phones, speakers, stereos, radios, VCRs, DVD players, iPods, multimedia devices and batteries.

TVs, computer monitors and household appliances will not be accepted. The first 100 individuals/families who bring items to be recycled will receive a green giveaway.

Since 2008, more than 8,700 pounds of e-waste and 6,700 pounds of paper have been collected during the park district’s Earth Day recycling drives.
