Fairlawn and Bath Township See Population Growth in New Census

Numbers for 2010 show that population is up 1.7 percent over 2000 figures. Even though the overall increase is relatively small, data in the two boxes below show one demographic group has skyrocketed; the number of African Americans living in Fairlawn has grown by 83 percent, from 447 to 820. The number of voting-age adults rose by 175.

Both Bath Township and the state show marginal population growth. The township's population of 9,702 is .6 over 2000 numbers. Ohio's population grew to 11,536,504, an increase of more than 183,000.

Overall, Summit County's population declined marginally, .2 percent to 541,781.
