City of Fairlawn Officially Brands Market Street as The 18 Corridor. The City of Fairlawn has branded their section of State Route 18, a 2.1 mile stretch along Market Street, officially as The 18 Corridor. With this branding effort, their goal is to attract more visitors and business to the city, and encourage them to take advantage of the many shops, businesses, restaurants and lodging. The campaign is also aiming to encourage tourists to stay in Fairlawn lodging when taking in the many sites in the Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron areas. The city will also use the effort to attract new businesses to locate or relocate to Fairlawn, while also encouraging redevelopment and updating of existing properties. There will be several programs put into motion in the next months and years to help achieve this goal. Planned marketing executions will include the development of traditional and online digital billboards, a social media campaign, several community related events, video development and public relations. Local businesses will also have multiple opportunities to partner with the city throughout the campaign. The City of Fairlawn launched a new website in conjunction with the branding effort, designed to promote local businesses and the programs they will be implementing. The new website can be accessed at www.The18Corridor.com. Businesses in the area will also be able to promote their business on the new website and The 18 Corridor social media platforms. The branding and subsequent marketing campaign was developed and is being managed by The Eisen Agency, a nationally award winning branding, marketing and media agency that works with destination points, municipalities and businesses.

A witness asked police to check out a group of suspicious juveniles outside a building on South Miller Road April 27. Officers determined the kids were just playing and not doing anything wrong. But the older brother of one of the kids arrived on the scene -- and while he wasn't doing anything wrong, either, he had in the past, a report said. Police said there was an active warrant from Copley police for the 21-year-old for failing to pay fines stemming from an assault case. He was arrested and turned over to Copley. No Going Back Two shoppers were banned for life from Exchange on West Market Street for allegedly stealing. A report said the male and female stole an X Box controller worth $50 on April 19. They were arrested April 25 after returning to the store. The male denied taking the controller.
