Photos of the Day: Fairlawn Community Garden Grows

It's rocky and soggy, but residents are making a grow of it in the garden's first year.

In its first year, the city plowed and staked off 96 plots at Fairlawn Park on Ridgewood Road for the .

Plotting pioneers paid between $20 and $30 for their  , which have been tilled three times. Although the rain has made the soil a little hard and the growing season shorter than usual, the garden is now sprouting corn, squash, tomatoes and a scarecrow or two.
