The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. and officers spent the following six hours interviewing students and faculty who heard the boy make his comments.
"We talked to the boys father and based on evidence we collected, we charged him with inducing panic and he was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Justice Center," said police Chief Michael McNeely. "He still has to be arraigned before a judge."

During the interviews, several parents called the police station to report what their child had heard happened throughout the day. Similarly, students and parents were calling the district's tip line with more information.
"The boy has only been with the district for two weeks," McNeely said. "We arrested him around 10 p.m. His father was very cooperative and I think (the boy) was sorry for what he'd done."
The boy has been removed, but no expelled from the district, Boroff said. Expulsion will depend on the results of the investigation.
"The timing with the incident that occurred in Chardon made this an issued that needed to be addressed," Boroff said. "We really appreciate the help everyone gave us to get this cleared up."
