Storm Knocks Out Power in Fairlawn

Lines down on Miller Road

 

A strong thunderstorm swept through the area late Wednesday afternoon, leaving a number of customers in the Akron area without power.

First Energy reported at 5:30 p.m. that 1,492 customers in Fairlawn had no electricity.

Fairlawn appears to have borne the brunt of the storm. In Akron, only 518 customers were without power, First Energy said.

A line of heavy thunderstorms is moving through northern Ohio, WKYC.com reports, with parts of the area under a thunderstorm watch till 9 p.m.

Also, part of Miller Road is closed to traffic at West Market Street due to downed power lines. A police dispatcher said at 5:45 p.m. than First Energy had arrived on the scene.
