That means it is now illegal for anyone text while driving. For teens 16 to 18, the new law is even stricter.
They can't text, email, play video games, use a GPS or even talk on a phone while driving -- or even if they are stopped at a traffic light.

Adult drivers are also prohibited from reading or writing text messages, reports Cleveland.com.
For adults, texting at the wheel is a secondary offense, which means they can only be cited for it if they are pulled over for another offense.
For 16- and 17-year-olds, though, it's a primary offense. If an officer sees a teen driver texting or talking, he can stop the vehicle and issue a ticket.
First-time violators can lose their license for 60 days and be fined $150. A second offense leads to a one-year license suspension and $300 fine.
