Belongings Stolen from Cart While Woman Shops: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

A quick-fingered thief made off with a woman's wallet and cell phone while she looked for an item at Marc's Aug. 11.

A report said the woman put her wallet and phone in her cart about 3:45 p.m.

She didn't leave the cart unattended, but turned away from it for a moment to look for something on a shelf, a report said.

When she turned back, her belongings were gone.

Police warn against leaving purses and other valuables in shopping carts. There have been a number of incidents in the area in which shoppers thought they were guarding their carts, but a thief walked by and grabbed their property.
