5 Bands to Play Art, Wine Festival Downtown on Saturday

Annual June event combines artists, wineries for Kent festival

is bringing five bands for the music lineup for the 6th annual Masterpieces on Main Art & Wine Festival, to be held in downtown Kent on Saturday, June 2, from noon to 10 p.m.

All performances will be on the stage at the Hometown Bank Plaza, and each act will perform for an hour and a half with providing sound for the all-day event.

Scheduled to kick off the event at noon is local band “Last of the Red Hot Burritos,” a fun, country/rock band. At 2 p.m. festival visitors will hear the sounds of the “Hoban Archbishop Pantasticks,” a steel drum band. Next on the stage at 4 p.m. will be popular local musician Steve Vanderink, followed at 6 p.m. by “Xtra Crispy,” a local rock/blues band. At 8 p.m., the band “Costley Ct.” will take the stage and jam out some of the best funk in Kent to wrap up the art and wine festival.

Admission to the event is free, and for $10 event goers can purchase a commemorative wine glass and three “taste” tickets to be used at their choice of the five winery tents. North Water Street will be closed from Main Street to Columbus Street. Local wineries participating in the event include: Wolf Creek,
Troutman Vineyards, & Winery, Maize Valley Winery and Myrddin Winery. Food will be available for purchase from Taproot Catering, an offshoot of the popular located in downtown Kent.

This event is generously sponsored by four local businesses: AMETEK, Kent State University School of Art Galleries, , and , all located in Kent. Proceeds from the event will benefit Main Street Kent, the non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent.
