
Administrators are free to hire again at now that a 15-month ban on hiring has ended.
Kent State University President Lester Lefton made the decision after consulting with new Kent State Provost Todd Diacon and Kent State Senior Vice President for Finance Gregg Floyd, the Daily Kent Stater reported.
Lefton first announced in December 2010. University officials cited an anticipated cut in state dollars to the university for 2011 as the reason for the freeze on hiring.

Willis Walker, vice president for human resources at Kent State, wrote in an email to faculty and staff Monday that "prudent budgetary oversight" demonstrated by university managers over the past 15 months allowed the hiring freeze to come to an end, the Daily Kent State reported.
