Kent State Dedicates 'The Nest' With Crankshaft, Funky Winkerbean Artists

Tom Batiuk and Chuck Ayers, nationally syndicated cartoonists behind strips Crankshaft and Funky Winkerbean, helped their alma mater dedicate a new student lounge decorated with their artwork Tuesday.

Batiuk and Ayers visited to celebrate the opening of "The Nest," a newly remodeled student lounge in the second floor of the student center. The top of the walls in the lounge are decorated with Ayers' illustrations depicting characters from both comic strips experiencing college life at Kent State.
