
Kent Police Capt. Paul Canfield has been serving as captain for the for several weeks, but he officially took the oath of office Wednesday before .
Canfield was promoted April 23 following five years as a shift lieutenant and a little more than one year as the department's administrative lieutenant.
The department's newest captain organized and led the two and serves as a sniper with the Metro SWAT team. As captain, Canfield manages patrol operations, scheduling, patrol training, jail operations, K-9 operations and special events for the department.
