$50,000 Grant Awarded For Kauffman Park Construction
The grant will be used to cover some of the planned improvements being installed this year.
LAKEWOOD, OH — A $50,000 grant will support planned park improvements at Kauffman Park, the city of Lakewood announced Wednesday.
The grant is part of the Community Development Supplemental program. The grant will cover part of the planned improvements scheduled for this year.
"Our parks are treasures in this community. We invest in them heavily because they are used heavily. I am grateful that Cuyahoga County understands that and has contributed to this Kauffman Park revitalization project," Mayor Meghan George said.

Planned improvements for Kauffman park include:
- Replacing and moving playground equipment, adding nature play elements for kids.
- Adding a water play features (probably hand pumps and channels).
- Adding a new picnic shelter.
- Repurposing the grass blade decorative bike racks.
- Adding a new asphalt path around the play area, with pedestrian lighting.
- Looping the existing water line to improve function.
- Replacing the asphalt path into the park with an ADA-compliant concrete pathway.
Construction at Kauffman should begin this summer, the city said.

Kauffman is the city's third larges park, behind Madison and Lakewood parks. Kauffman is at 15450 Detroit Avenue, across from the Lakewood Library.
