Here are the top 3 stories today in Lakewood:

  1. On Aug. 3, Tamara McLoyd was found guilty of murdering Cleveland Police Officer Shane Bartek. Now, the 19-year-old woman has been convicted of numerous violent crimes leading up to the murder, according to officials. This includes an armed robbery at Happy's Pizza in Cleveland and several armed robberies of individuals in Lakewood and in Cleveland Heights. McLoyd will face sentencing on Sept. 27. (Cleveland19)
  2. A local small business owner donates extra products to charities. Lakewood resident Dave Willett owns STEM Handmade Soap. To make his products, it takes weeks of curing, almost like the process of making bread. Soaps that don't turn out perfectly shaped cannot be sold, so Willett donates them to charities by dropping off the products or having them come into the store to pick them up. "We have three pillars of our business," he said. "It's care of self, care of community and care of planet." (Spectrum News 1)
  3. On the hunt for a new home, and want to get a better understanding of what's available near you? Need some help finding the perfect place for you and your loved ones? Here’s a sampling of the newest batch of homes to hit the housing market in and around Lakewood — such as a house with 4 beds and 3 baths for $269,000, and another with 4 beds and 4 baths for $525,000.
