Studying Chinese at Summer Camp
Confucius Institute Chinese Summer Camp is part of a new partnership between the University of Akron Lakewood campus and Lakewood High School.
Several Lakewood students have been schooled in all-things-Chinese.
The students, from seventh grade through 12th grade, recently wrapped up lessons in language, arts, history and sports as part of the weeklong Confucius Institute Chinese Summer Camp at the .
The students finished the week with a field trip to Asia Town in Cleveland on Friday.

“Suzanne Metelko from UA Lakewood and the Confucius Institute were great to work with in bringing Chinese cultural learning opportunities to Lakewood,” said principal Bill Wagner.
“I was thrilled to see the tremendous response to the Spring Splash activities and the Summer Institute.”

Wagner’s got good reason to be excited. Starting this August, a joint partnership with the branch campus will offer Chinese language arts courses to Lakewood students.
“This is just the beginning of a fabulous partnership between the Lakewood City Schools and the University of Akron,” he added.
