UPDATE: Crash on Franklin Boulevard Shuts Down Traffic at Belle Avenue
Woman sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
A traffic signal — disabled by — may be partly to blame for a two-car crash at the intersection of Belle Avenue and Franklin Boulevard this afternoon.
Details of the 3:30 p.m. crash are not yet clear, as police officers from the investigate the scene. One woman was taken to nearby with minor injuries.
Another person was treated at the scene.

It appears that a car headed south on Belle Avenue collided with a pick-up truck headed east on Franklin Boulevard. The car's front end was smashed and the truck was pushed onto its side and on the sidewalk.
Dozens of neighbors stood in the sweltering heat to catch a glimpse of the crash, as well as its cleanup.

Neighbors said that the traffic signal had been out for most of the day — the result of a sweeping power outage across the city.
Several squads from the responded to the scene. Traffic was shut down near the intersection and motorists were rerouted to either Detroit or Madison avenues.
Fire Marshal Tim Dunphy said that crashes on Franklin Boulevard are not uncommon, party because there are many cross-streets.
“You’ve got to be careful,” he said. “These people are lucky ... Lucky.”
An earlier version of this story reported that two people were sent to the hospital. Only the driver of the pick-up truck was taken for medical attention. She was treated and released from Lakewood Hospital.
