Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Republican Cuyahoga County executive candidate Lee Weingart is proposing a flat income tax split with cities in the county instead of the current "confusing array of municipal income taxes." Weingart is a candidate for Cuyahoga County Council. (Cleveland.com)
  2. The 34th annual Lakewood Community Festival is scheduled for this weekend. The festival, which is a celebration of community, cultural heritage, and families, runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 10, at Madison Park. Residents can expect crafts, an inflatable obstacle course, children's games, live music, creative food, and more! Proceeds from the festival will be donated to local organizations. (Cleveland.com)
  3. Lakewood's St. Edward High School was ranked number 19 in MaxPreps' "Top 25 high school football rankings." St. Edward's record is 3-0, with a 13 to nine win against Cherry Creek High School last week. On Sep. 10, St. Edward will play against Elder High School. (Max Preps)
